Topic of the week for week ending 2021-01-02. This will be discussed during the bible study at 10am EST today on Discord. Contention In the double slit experiment, generally speaking the presence of an observer alters the outcome of the experiment. Due to the observation that the experiment can be completed in a manner in […]

Refuting Christianity by Refuting Calvinism
I had the pleasure of reading “Calvinism and Arminianism: Neither Are In The Truth” on Daniel P. Barron’s blog recently and I thought I could give a response to it here, as some fairly deep issues are raised. You can read the article here; on Mr. Barron’s blog The original article by Darwin Fish Total […]
John Wesley’s Explanatory Notes
As it turns out, John Wesley’s Explanatory Notes (i.e. from the Wesley Study Bible, classic studylight or studylight or even biblestudytools) is in the Public Domain. This might be useful to use as a reference to help explain points for credibility’s sake; we will certainly reference some of it. Actually most of it looks useless. […]
Notes on Rashi: Merged Version, Sefaria Licenses
I now see a merged version on sefaria with the following notices: Pentateuch with Rashi’s commentary by M. Rosenbaum and A.M. Silvermann Source: primo.nli.org.il License: Public Domain Metsudah Chumasn, Metsudah Publications, 2009 Source: primo.nli.org.il License: CC-BY Sefaria Community Edition The Koren Jerusalem Bible Source: korenpub.com License: CC-BY-NC under construction
Notes on Rashi: Rosenbaum-Silbermann to SCE
I’ve come to realize how the Rosenbaum-Silbermann text was updated by the SCE. It appears as if the SCE only includes the updates made to the RS Text. Therefore the process of inclusion will be to incorporate the Rosenbaum-Silbermann text and then go back and copy-0verwrite the SCE.
Adventures in Discord
About two weeks ago I left IRC for Discord. IRC had become far, far too small, and the discussions too played out — the entrenched guard of the debate channels on DalNet had become too insane, too far gone to make it worthwhile anymore. It was fun while it lasted. The future seems to be […]
Bad name verses
So according to “The Companion Bible”, specifically this page https://levendwater.org/companion/append32.html we have a list of passages for which the name of God has been changed, possibly in the underlying masoretic text. I pass no judgement on this right now but I will list the passages here and I will go over them with a fine […]
Revising for Reading Level
For the future; an interesting concept is the reading level of the Bible. The RSV and KJV bibles are approximately Grade 12, as given by biblegateway.com and listed for convenience below: Mounce — 12+ (ages 17+) KJV — 12+ (ages 17+) RSV — 12+ (ages 17+) Geneva — 12+ (ages 17+) WEB — 12+ (ages 17+) NRSV — 11+ (ages 16+) NASB — 11+ […]
The Next Book Might Not Be Jonah
The next book will be Jonah? Scratch that. I might just go with Exodus. It’s longer, and vastly more complex, but also of an importance commensurate with it’s size and complexity over Jonah. I’m going to perform one final check of Genesis and then begin the next book. The reader is probably not as important […]
