Suggested Translation:

His mouth is sweetness itself; his name is Mohammed.
This is my beloved, this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem.Songs 5:16 (Suggested)

Examples of how this claim is phrased:

Statement

1. The statement is made that the name of the Muslim Prophet is announced in the Hebrew Bible – as shown above in Song of Songs 5:16.

2. Additionally, that there were Jews who traveled to Medina because they recognized this as a prophecy and came to Medina to meet the prophet.

3. Additionally that when the Jews found that he message of the Prophet was different than the teachings in their book, that they rejected the prophet.

4. Additionally, that the Jews edited this passage and other passages to remove or alter the prophecy that Mohammed (PBUH) was the Prophet.

Critical response

Arabic Word in Hebrew

The first point is problematic because the scriptures are written in Hebrew and Mohammed (PBUH) spoke Arabic. The claim is then seen to be, essentially, that an Arabic word was present, transliterated into Hebrew. Our first point will be, is this a logical, acceptable position? Surprisingly, the answer is yes – there is an example of the same thing happening in Daniel. Daniel gave a prophecy whereby the name Cyrus, a Persian name, was given in prophecy. Therefore there is nothing to complain about given the idea that an Arabic name could possibly appear in the Hebrew Scriptures,
