Wang Changjiang: 10th-Generation Successor
Born in 1951 into a Tai Chi family in Chenjiagou, Wang Changjiang is the grandson of Wang Yan and the head of the Wang Yan Traditional Tai Chi School. He began learning Tai Chi at age four under his grandfather, practicing secret forms, push hands, sparring, and weaponry for nearly three decades. With his innate talent and rigorous training, he mastered Tai Chi’s essence, developing precision and seamless power, especially in push hands techniques.
Wang’s style reflects the profound strength of Chen-style old frame routines, invoking the awe-inspiring spirit of Tai Chi predecessors. Known for his humility and integrity, he teaches with dedication, adapting his instruction to individual needs. Since the 1990s, he has quietly preserved his art while attracting countless students. His disciples have won numerous awards in national Tai Chi competitions, and Wang has shared his expertise through media outlets and publications, preserving the unaltered traditions of Wang Yan Tai Chi, hailed as a “living fossil” of Tai Chi.
Preservation and Promotion
In 2014, under widespread encouragement, Wang Changjiang established the Wang Yan Traditional Tai Chi School at Wang Yan's ancestral home in Chenjiagou. Dedicated to promoting Wang Yan's Tai Chi culture and preserving this national cultural treasure, the school invites Tai Chi enthusiasts worldwide to learn, practice, and continue the legacy of Wang Yan Tai Chi.
