= Davidic Covenant

The Davidic Covenant is outlined in several places in the Hebrew, and is mentioned countless times in prophecy. Here are some key verses discussing the covenant; I will elucidate the "laws of the covenant" in terms of number, although there is no such official thing nor do I claim this is official (and I use it for reference only).

== Primary Statements
<blockquote>12 When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.<cite>2 Samuel 7:12-13</cite></blockquote>

* 1. A physical descendant of King David will become King (again) in Israel. (2 Samuel 7:12)

* 2. The descendancy must go through the sons (and not the daughters) (2 Samuel 7:12).

* 3. His royal line will exist forever. (2 Samuel 7:13)

* 4. This king will build a temple for the Lord. (2 Samuel 7:13)

* 6. Fulfilled by King David and King Solomon. (2 Chronicles 6:16-17)

* 7. King David and King Solomon (at least at his inauguration) kept the law and were righteous. (2 Chronicles 6:16)

* 7d. All of the righteous kings of Israel were righteous because they kept the law. (Psalm 132:11-12)

** 3 You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant:

** 21 then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers.
** 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.”

The line cannot go through a woman (discrediting the genealogies in the NT). If it is not sufficient to point out that there will always be a son (implying the righteous son will hold the line of david and never a woman, since no woman will exist without some man alive to hold the throne, see 3,) that it will exclusively go through a man. Nevertheless the prophecy is explicitly clarified to require descendency in Judah -- which requires patrilineal descent.
